Scanning films at 4K instead of 1080p or 2K allows for more detail and color in the uncompressed source file, which results in a better-quality image when downscaled to 1080p. So yes, you will notice the difference between this and the original BD. Plus this version has Dolby Atmos audio, which is nice if you have an audio system with at least 7.1 speakers.

I hope they don't f-ck up the color and contrast like Paramount's colorists did with the 4k "remaster" of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Any standard 7.1 system will benefit from the downmixed TrueHD core track compared to standard TrueHD 7.1, due to the surround-extension matrix incorporated into the stream. It works on the same principle as a surround-encoded stereo track, just with extra channels.
