After adopting Blu, are you replacing your whole DVD library?
Hey all,
I'm new to Blu. I've had a HDTV for like 3 years now, but only just bought a Blu-Ray player last Saturday. The reason I put it off for so long is because I've been happy with DVD (still am) and I have a rather extensive collection (around 1,000 DVDs).
Anyway, since crossing over to Blu-Ray, I admit that the picture quality is SPECTACULAR.
In the past week, I've bought one Blu-Ray disc that I didn't already own: "Inception". I have bought several more, all films that I already own on DVD. But the reason I have re-bought them is because the DVD versions have really bad transfers. Like "The Road Warrior" (a single layered disc from 1999), "Gremlins" (same deal), "Beetlejuice" (again, same deal), "Kick-Ass" (while a new movie, the DVD looks shocking)...and I did rebuy "Avatar", but it's the extended version, so it doesn't really count LOL.
I have no plans to rebuy my ENTIRE library because 95% of the DVDs still looks amazing upscaled. I plan only to rebuy films I come across with crappy transfers.
Just wondering what you guys have done or are doing? Have you replaced your entire DVD library with Blu-Ray? Hocked the whole thing completely and are starting over, or simply replacing certain films like I am?
