Do you buy second hand/used Blu-rays?

Just curious what others do on here.

When I started buying Blu-rays back in 2010/2011, I bought them new. Since that time, I've started buying used (not rentals) discs on eBay. I can get some amazing deals. For example, I just picked up "The Social Network" for $3, including postage.

If my local JB Hifi store has the 2 for $20 deals going, I buy new but other than that, used is a lot more economical. And since most of them are upgrades from DVD, it makes sense.

What about you guys? Do you buy used or prefer to stick with brand new?

It looks a bit sweaty in there so you may need to apply baby powder Zapp Brannigan

Yes. If it's for a straight upgrade of a title I have on DVD and the BD costs more than £5 new without an additional features.

And also if I just can't get my hands on it new.

reply

not really. The only place i have around here that sells used blu-rays Is FYE

And sometimes they charge more for it it used than it costs new elsewhere

i was at FYE and they wanted 99.99 for "Star wars : Complete Saga" used

meanwhile I paid 89.99 for it new at Best buy in Janurary

I like having extras. Often rental versions are film only

I sometimes buy a 2nd-hand Dvd or Blu-ray on Ebay , when they are generally unobtainable in stores . I agree that JB Hifi prices are very reasonable at times too ( a Sale is on Today , Fry!)!

I used to buy a lot of ex-rentals. However the store I got them from closed down (scored a big pile from their closing-down sale).. they generally were in good-as-new condition unless they'd been there so long that the store stickers had dried up so some of the older ones I got in that sale got a bit of damage to the slicks. I've got a few other ex-rental cheapies that I bought online which weren't so easy to de-sticker so they look a bit crappy but hey, for a fraction of the retail price I can't really complain. I'm nowhere near as anal about the condition of my movies as I am about music, as long it plays through I don't even care if has a cover since most BD/DVD slicks are ugly anyway.

I usually purchase wholesale lots off Ebay when it comes to games and Blu-rays. They normally come in 10-20 titles and are between twenty-five dollars and a hundred. I get better deals that way.

I used to buy them at a Hastings chain in my area, but the store closed down. Now I'm forced to Buy brand new because there's no other stores in my area that sells used. I guess I'll now have to resort to Amazon or Ebay for my used goods.

I bought a load once from my local library (ex rental)
