Interesting how we perceive things differently
In one of the articles on Guardian about IMDB's recent big news, a girl commented this.
The downfall of the IMDB happened a few years ago when there seemed to be a large influx of new types of users who had suddenly discovered the forums. Some were run of the mill trolls who had been kicked out of other online forums and decide to use the IMDB as a new stomping ground. Others were bored teenagers, fanboys, your typical hive of scum and villainy (racists, sexists, etc.), fantrolls and hate watchers. In any event, as soon as they discovered the site, the quality of the discussions began to plummet off a cliff. Of course, forums for more obscure movies and TV shows were left unmolested. But anything more recent, and there were very few fruitful discussions. In fact, for certain movies, it was a 100%certainty that their forums would be completely overrun by trolls.
The person who made this comment was 'atomic-girl'. Now the fact that the above comment came from one of the most trans-phobic person I have ever seen on this board makes me wonder how differently people view themselves.
on a side note, another Guardian user remembered posioned-dragon on the same place.
I remember many people, and can still remember some details. I remember Helen Wheels, and Autumn Leaves from Connecticut. I remember Lamont Smith from New York and Froggie from French Canada, Aussie Atheist, antboy, and AC/DC Chick. I remember Poisoned Dragon (with a Goya quote?) and Number One Alcove from Oregon, a Marine on a ship in Japan whose nick I don't recall, Catlin from New Jersey, a British ex-army officer (the Brigadier, or Grenadier?), a black American lady who was going to join the peace corps, and a French expert of science history. I remember staunch Conservatives, Brian from Canada with his 'shock 'em' threads, and a conservative from New York with a Finnish wife and a new son. I remember so many others, whose nics or features escape me in this moment. I remember lots of great American people, whose posts reached out and stimulated me.

Yes now the rains weep o'er his hall,
and not a soul to hear.
