How does your consciousness switch off when you goto sleep??
i am confused
Have there ever been a sleep cycle in which you realized you are going to sleep, and actually remember when you went to sleep? The exact moment?

Ever seen Inside Out? Exactly like that.
I loved that movie.
I saw it several times with different young grandkids aged between 4 and 8.
Way cool.
Yes, it's excellent.
It doesn't.
All lined up - get your ducks in a row.
I know several people who do that all the time.
The Dumpster gives a whole new meaning to "red" states.
Yes, I'm getting better at it but it takes a lot of practive.
Some psychiatrists claim it's possible to be aware for the full 8 hours. I'm not so sure but it's something I'd want to do.

It's supposed to switch off completely during deep wave sleep. I can't remember their claim but it was using bio-feedback as I recall that they kept an iota of it throughout it.
At any rate I'm obviously separating altered states of consciousness from the standard more mechanistic off and on which has to be used in a medical facility for sheer pragmatic reasons.
Most of my dreams are lucid so wouldn't I be described as being conscious during them?
