The problem with Samsung

This is one of two threads based on the feud between Samsung fans as well as Apple fans. Note that I am going to give the positives as well as the negatives of both companies. I used to own an iPod as well as an iPhone 3G and went to the Samsung Galaxy line so be advised I do know the difference. I am currently typing this on a MacBook Pro and I will be mainly targeting the mobile division of both companies and not the computer division. Please comment with your opinions and feedback. Lets not make this a fanboy battle please.

Samsung

-Samsung has always been a competitive company. They are very well known in the TV and cellphone division but they were not on top of the cellphone market. They wanted to be but the iPhone was dominating sales. So Samsung released the 'Instinct' dubbed the iphone killer. iPhone still beat it in sales and continued to become the top cellphone ever. Samsung was not happy with this and created its Galaxy line. The first phone was called the 'Galaxy S' which was an identical copy to the iPhone 3G and 3GS

YES. SAMSUNG DID COPY APPLE.

-The Galaxy S was praised for it's speed and features but was also labeled as an 'iPhone twin'. When Apple released it's iPad, Samsung wanted the tablet market too and released a 7" Tablet named the Galaxy Tab. Samsung basically established a Galaxy base which it would slowly lose credibility.

-Apple began to file a lawsuit against Samsung for copying their design. (Which I agree with.)

-So Samsung decided to differentiate itself from the iPhone and released it's Galaxy S II which was the game changer. It began to open consumer eyes and show there are phones out there better then the iPhone. This didn't stop Apple from suing nor did it stop Samsung from flooded the mobile market with silly Galaxy dubbed knockoffs. This is where things get a bit annoying.

Apple is known for it's iPhone, iPad, Macbooks, iMacs, iPods, and Apple TV.

Samsung is known for it's Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab, Galaxy Notes.

Since Samsung began gaining critical acclaim it began to flood the mobile market with more and more Galaxy devices with lower specs and a lower fan base. Here is a comparison list of Apple phones vs Samsung.

Apple

-iPhone
-iPhone 3G
-iPhone 3GS
-iPhone 4
-iPhone 4S
-IPhone 5

That is a total of 6 iPhones.

Samsung

-Galaxy S
-Galaxy S 4G
-Galaxy S Blaze
-Galaxy S Relay
-Galaxy Grand
-Galaxy Nexus
-Galaxy S II
-Galaxy S II Skyrocket
-Galaxy S II Plus
-Galaxy S III
-Galaxy S III mini
-Galaxy Note
-Galaxy Note II

So far thats 13 devices but there are much more.

My opinion on Samsung's direction.

The Galaxy Note 2 and the S3 are huge game changers and they are both great phones but I think Samsung is taking their success over the top by flooding the market. The reason Apple has so much third party support is because their devices are simple and there are not 100 different models labled iPhone Slide or iPhone Flip II Pro. Stick with your Galaxy S (Numbered Series) and your Galaxy Note series. A proper list would be:

Galaxy S I,II,III
Galaxy Note I,II
Galaxy Note 10.1 (Tablet)
Galaxy Tab 1,2

The Galaxy brand is a great trademark but you need to make the market much less crowded to have the consumer interested in your main series and not your spinoff devices that have lackluster specs. I do believe they have created great designs that look nothing like the iPhone but their original Galaxy S was a pure copy of the iPhone 3G.

Lower fan base? What does this mean - lower prices?
