It depends on what's broken and what they have to do to fix it. It's possible they'd just exchange it for a factory-refurbished unit. Or if just the hard drive is bad, then your data is toast, unless you're willing to try a data recovery service, but that will be costly. Alternatively, if you can open up the unit, maybe it's feasible to hook up a drive adapter and recover the contents using PC software. If the hard drive is in good condition, making a backup copy would be a good idea before turning it over to the Geeks.
