Big problem with Android

I have a Samsung Galaxy Avant. My cousin sent me and my two sisters a group text. The text came in as from one of my sisters --- a recipient of the group text. Not until I opened it did it say it was a group text and who it was from.

After the conversation was over, the conversation went into my text history log as being from my sister --- and as a personal conversation. Not as a group text from the sender.

Days later, I wanted to send my sister a personal text. I scrolled down my text history log to find her. Only after I sent the text was I informed it was a group text going to everyone in that group.

Fortunately, the text was nothing the other recipients couldn't read. But it could have been. It should be titled and listed as a group text. Not a personal text from one of the recipients of the original group text.

I called my service provider and they said it is a problem with Android --- not Samsung. I called Samsung and they said it was a problem with the Android operating system (lollipop). It was a default setting. The Samsung representative said she couldn't do anything about it. She tried to connect me with a department that maybe could do something about it twice but they wouldn't pick up.

Even if they can change it, I can't believe this is the default setting. It is a dangerous and stupid design. The service provider rep said this not an issue with Apple. If Android wants to compete with Apple they better fix this.

Overall, I am happy with my phone. But this is really stupid. What do you think?

Yes, it's a problem, but it's not as if Apple hasn't been plagued with its own issues ("Fappening," anyone?).

All [mobile] OS's have their issues and quirky idiosyncrasies. You just have to learn to live with them and/or how to bypass them whenever feasible.

That said, I wouldn't be caught dead with a device with an "i" in front of it. I love Android's HUGE app selection, versatility and customizability way too much.

Or --- open the conversation and check to see if it is private or group. But all of that is inefficient. One of the benefits of modern technology is supposed to be efficiency. Going to the contact list or opening past text conversations is unnecessarily inefficient. If group texts would just be listed as group texts, that would solve the problem. And group text should not be listed under the name of one of the recipients. At the very least, it ought to titled and listed under the name of the sender.

That said, I wouldn't be caught dead with a device with an "i" in front of it. I love Android's HUGE app selection, versatility and customizability way too much.
And what about the cost. My bottom line Samsung Avant was only $200. At the time I bought my phone the bottom line I-Phone was going for $450.

I have never had an I-Phone. But I have talked to many who prefer Android to Apple. That is great. All in all, I consider my smart phone a technological marvel. But that doesn't mean it is perfect and beyond improvement. The problem I had seems ridiculously stupid and an easy fix.
