External DTS decoders...

Alright... I have an RCA RT2250B Home Theatre receiver. It doesn't support DTS, but it does have a 6 Channel input, which the manual says is for external 6 channel decoders, like DTS.

I've searched the Futureshop, Source and Best Buy websites, and haven't found anything by searching "External DTS decoder". Do they still make and sell these? My home theatre is 7 years old, so I dunno.

Furthermore... I was wondering if I'd be able to get a decoder that would make it possible to play DTS HD and Dolby TrueHD once I get a PS3 and start watching Blu-Rays. Is it possible to play that through my 7 year old receiver with the 6 channel input?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

You need 8 channels for the full boat, otherwise you might as well stick with DD.

At the price it would make far more sense to buy a DVD player that had onboard DD and DTS decoding with the component output jacks (6 RCA outs). Otherwise with a separate decoder when you want to listen in DD you may be hooking your DVD player one way, DTS another, back and forth with each disk)

Like I said in the other forum, there's the Technics SH-AC500D. But, people still pay $100 and up for them on eBay.

Anyway, whatever you spend on it, it's a waste of money since you're going to need an HDMI receiver sooner or later if you want to get the most from Blu-ray (and HD DVD).
