Anyone here have experience with audio recording?

I'm trying to sing and record some songs on ProTools, but I'm having trouble with my levels.

In short... What settings do I need to, economically, achieve a polished stuio sound like, say, this:

Unfortunately, I don't have the access to youtube from the place I'm at right now (or anything else, for that matter, except imdb and wiki...), but it would help if you'll tell what interface you're using, what microphone, how exactly you set up your recording environment. Generally, levels in ProTools should be pretty healthy on the meters, but do not overload - don't go to the red light on the meter.
As to your question how to get "that big studio sound" - go to the studio... ;)
Seriously, though, you might want to play with mic positioning, with different types of processing, such as compression, equalisation, reverberation, delays and such.
