Headphones that reduce sibilance?

I have a problem that when listening to my portable DVD player and listening through headphones, there seems to be a lot of sibilance - the 's ' sound sounding harsh and hissy, like a ' sssss ' - and when listening at anything above a moderate volume, it becomes distracting . I can't remember noticing this on previous DVD players I had and listening to my laptop with the same headphones there's still this slight effect, but not as much. I've tried two different pairs of headphones with the DVD player and there was no difference - am I right in thinking this is an effect coming from the DVD player rather than my headphones? This is maybe a stupid question, but are there any headphones that would kind of cut down this sibilance effect, or if I tried more expensive headphones, would there be likely to be less sibilance when using them? - or if this is a related to the player, will this effect still be there no matter how ' good ' the headphones I use are?

Danny,

Try a new pair of headphones or replace the DVD player.

In all other respects the DVD player is great - the picture quality's brilliant - and it was quite expensive so I'm hoping it's the headphones - it's kind of hard to tell as I use the same headphones with my laptop and there still seems to be this effect slightly on there but it seems more noticeable on the DVD player - I read that Sennheiser headphones are good for cutting down this kind of sibilance effect, does anyone out there own any of those?
