I've had a DVD disc stuck in my DVD player for three days. The machine won't open. I've banged and knocked the machine all over. Nothing is working. I'm *this* close to busting the machine apart with a hammer just to get the DVD out! Any tips on how to safely remove the disc without busting the player like a maniac?
Note: I didn't knock and bang the player until it got stuck. I'm just trying to get the DVD out.

Most electronic devices are held together by screws. You might want to try carefully removing those and opening the case up properly first before the hammer.
sharePrying the disc drawer open might work. Use a couple of table knives or screwdrivers to pry from both sides. (On computer drives, there's usually a hole where you can poke a straightened paper clip in to manually work the ejection gears. I don't see that option on my Blu-ray or DVD or HD-DVD players.)
When this happens you might want to find a lubricant for electronic devices and sqeeze it gently into your machine. Start light, then turn the DVD player on and try to eject your disc.
