Pal to NTSC to SECAM converter

I have a friend who got ahold of some Pal vhs tapes that has episodes of a show that wasn't released uncut on DVD. Just for clarification the episodes weren't released fully uncut on DVD either, but what I want to is if I used one of those Pal to NTSC converters and hooked it up to his vcr would that work, or would he have to get one of those Multi-Region VCR's to watch those tapes?

You would need a VCR that can play PAL, and either a TV that can show PAL, or a standards converter to use with an NTSC set. Or you could use a digitizer to import it into a computer and convert it to most any format.
