Rising Damp "Clunk-Click" episode - Peppery Man???

Hi. I just watched the "Clunk Click" episode from the brilliant Rising Damp Complete TV Series DVD set. It's the one where Rigsby has an accident in his sports car and pretends Alan is the owner when the magistrate character, the other driver involved, arrives. Rigsby's plan backfires of course when the man gives Alan ten quid because he thinks he was at fault.

The guest stars in the episode were Derek Francis (who plays Mr French, the magistrate) and Judy Buxton (who plays Alan's posh girlfriend, Caroline).

But also credited is James Bree as "Peppery Man". Now even though I must have seen this episode many times, since it first showed in 1977 and a few t.v. repeats over the years, I don't ever recall a "Peppery Man" character. I watched it again to make sure I'm not losing me marbles and he's definitely not there. I know there has been some retro-censorship in some British sit-coms, including another Rising Damp episode, which thankfully has been included in my box set with a characters name on a banner blurred out. So maybe his part has been erased for some weird reason.

Anyway could this Peppery Man thing just be a big mistake in the credits and he never was there? The thing is he is credited for this episode in the dvd credits, IMDB credits, and wikipedia's James Bree page. And I probably wouldn't be so bothered if "Peppery Man" wasn't such a spooky name for a character. Cheers.
