love thy neighbour

would this series ever be seen on british t.v or any where in fact, due to the nature of the subject and political correctness. i have been reading some of the posts and the stations have been editing some of the old shows that have certain references, but then so are the americans with the tom and jerry cartoons and even disney wont release any more copies of the song of the south because its supposed to be racist. i guess we wont see alf garnett on our screens any more

It's nothing to do with "political correctness".
They wouldn't show it today because:
1. It was horrendously racist and offensive and
2. It was rubbish.
Apparently when it started, some critics (including Barry Norman) saw it as a welcome look at racial issues. This attitude soon vanished.
Some justify it on the grounds that the black neighbours generally got one over the white couple. This doesn't wash.
Listen to the studio audience! They always laugh hardest at the racist bits.
Thank God society has progressed since then. The Day Today parodied it as "Them Next Door".
p.s. Interesting that so many people who complain about "political correctness" are often promoting some sort of racist argument.
