Problem with XLSX files

First of all, it is only fair to point out that I can just about turn a computer on, so my apologies if I am asking something with an answer that is blindingly obvious. But here goes...

I have Excel 2007 and when I try to open an xlsx file I get a drop down menu.

So I press open

And get another menu that asks what do I want to do with the file and gives the options of open, save or save as.

So I press open and the file opens.

Is there any way that I can simply click on the xlsx file and have it open directly?

If you navigate to the file in Windows Explorer and double-click on it, it should open directly in Excel.
