I can't watch plays/stage performances.

It's a wierd problem I developed in elementary school when we put on a lot of plays for parents.
I just find stage productions to be incredibly lame because you can see that it's fake. You can see the stage; you can see wires attached when somebody flies through the air, etc etc.

I dunno, maybe kids shouldn't be forced into doing school plays?
I was ok until I got a little older and after that I started getting into trouble for refusing to participate. There were others of the same opinion but they usually let themselves be bullied into doing it to avoid trouble.

This was the beginning of the end of my education. As a result of teachers trying to force me into school plays I developed a hatred of school in general which only grew worse in high school. I barely squeeked through to graduation and I'm still bitter all these years later.

Thanks for letting me vent.

"What about a stage performance that is a film?"
I used to be a big fan of SNL and Mad TV. Never bothered me much there.

In answer to the question about movies, I find that movies just look real.
If the movie is done well enough it simply creates an alternate reality which the viewer can enjoy and forget that it's just an act. You can't see a stage and you don't see strings attached. (mostly)

And let's face it, movies have more action.
When was the last time you saw a stage performance with a good car chase?

Each to his own, I suppose. I've witnessed quite a few plays with great special effects and believable actors. Perhaps you could attend more professional plays an you appreciation may grow, can't get any more believable than that portraying life as we do and don't know it.

So the teachers are still on your back? Why not just ignore them and think for yourself?
