My engine light came on and stayed on. I have a 2012 Dodge Ram Truck. So I checked all the fluids and made sure the gas cap was on tight. All was good but the light stayed on. Took it to a Dodge dealership to have it looked at. They said the trunk would run fine with engine light on. Said it was just a sensor went bad. So I can just leave the light on or pay $300.00 (plus tax) for new sensor. Seems like a lot of money to just replace a sensor. What do you think?
shareWe had a Mercury Sable whose engine light stayed on for 13 years. If the mechanics at the dealership are telling you to save your money, BELIEVE THEM. Those guys have a rep for trying to sell you more than you need, so if they're saying that you don't really need it, save your money. That warning light can come on for DOZENS of different reasons; usually, until the actual symptoms of the problem it's detecting show up, the code readers won't be able to diagnose it properly, either.
That's my opinion, and it's worth every penny you paid for it.

He did not say. Just the "check engine light" sensor I guess. The way he explained it, it was not a big deal. But IMO $300.00 just to replace a sensor is a big deal.
They didn't explain what sensor. No luck then should be replaced so if something else goes wrong you will know so I would ask them which one.
