What artists or pieces did you enjoy from art history? If you give me a little more information I would be happy to introduce you to some work from contemporary artists who you may enjoy. It should get you started.
If you want to read a really great book about contemporary art, read Art Since 1900 Volume 2.
Not only is it one of the best "art history" books I have ever read, it links art and historical movements as well as giving a good understand of the conceptual links between artists working at different time periods.

shareI personally love street art. its contemporary, interesting and still evolving. Banksy is perhaps the most famous artists belonging to this movement. I recommend watching a wonderful documentary called exit through the gift shop.
