ARCHIE COMICS [spoilers included]

I don't know where this belongs but they are wanting to 'end' the comic with archie die at the hands of defending his gay friend.

I am okay with him having a gay friend.
I am okay with a gay being in the comic book universe.

what gets me.... is the writers/owners/whomever dislike any sort of sex and will not publish any sort of fan fiction/story plots that involve sex.

that I have no problem with -- in fact, I condone it because the world is too sex driven now.

my problem... is how do they explain the gay character to begin with? isn't gay about being sexually attracted to someone of your own sex? so that is sex, right? so how can they be okay with the gay friend concept?

Being gay means you are attracted to people of your own sex, not the other sex. You can be gay and celibate just as you can be straight and celibate.

you are apparently the one who has the problem. you basically 'corrected me' with something that I had already said anyway.

the problem I have with how they are finishing archie is the way they are going about this...

so the dislike sex... that is fine, too many young children are exposed to too much these days and I am glad that at least one area is still being innocent.

so how does a gay character make them still be innocent?

Why do you think innocence is possible with gay characters but not with straight ones?

I didn't say that.

I don;t see how gay characters can be innocent.

and it is not that that I am questioning... it is their mindset how they don't want sex to be a part of that world but they have archie meeting his demise for standing up for a gay friend.

This is how I see what you are saying between the lines: Archie Comics universe is the Garden of Eden where Archie and childhood friends frolic about in innocence, vis a vis no sex. Homosexuality, in some circles, is considered a sin and therefore incompatible within this Garden of Eden, just as Adam and Eve were expelled for their original sin.

Leave the circle and there will be no incompatibility.

seriously, I was just swinging by...

I see what you are saying but just for the record, I am not considering homosexuality a sin in real life. I also have no problem with it in the archie universe...

I just don't see how the writers can be 'no sex' this and 'no sex' that, and then have a: the homosexual character who is out, and b: having archie die for standing up for this character.
