Fine art stolen from Hollywood artists home in Arizona
CHANDLER, AZ (KPHO/KTVK) -
Art valued at more than $10,000 was stolen from a Chandler artist’s home Thursday evening.
Ralph Brekan told police his home was burglarized while he was away for business in California.
Several pieces of his “Pop Portraits” series created in 1998 were taken, including mixed media montage portraits of David Bowie, Prince, Elizabeth Taylor and Michael Jackson.
Brekan said another piece was also stolen – an original pop-art painting of Albert Einstein by Warhol progeny Steve Kaufman.
The artist’s realtor discovered the home had been burglarized and notified Brekan, who filed a police report on Sunday.
Brekan’s artwork is included in the permanent collections of museums worldwide. He is currently a production designer in Hollywood.
