OTish: Does Aladdin live action mean no more Sherlock for Ritchie?

Its pretty obvious they aren't keen on making another, and now it seems the final (sadly) nail has been put in the coffin. So much for RDJ making more out of his comeback, Iron Man is getting pretty old imo.

Silver and RDJ are actively developing a third, but the three egos involved (RDJ, Ritchie and Silver) and Silver's broken relationship with Warner Bros (and Ritchie's very problematic one with them: three out of his last four films with them have involved drastic post-production surgery, delays and reshoots) make it one of those situations where getting everyone to sit down and set a date problematic. But I wouldn't be too surprised to see it going ahead with another director.

I personally wouldn't mind a different director for the third, someone like Matthew Vaughn maybe? At this point I'd take almost any mediocre director for a 3rd film but I know with RDJ the director will be pretty good.

As an avid Sherlockian, I sort of like the first Ritchie Sherlock, but did no care for the second. At least in the first, he made Holmes's deductive abilty his main weapon, but in the second he was just an action hero.I hated that.
Despite being set in modern times. the BBC/Cumbernatch "Sherlock" is MUCH closer to the Conan Doyle original then the Ritchie version.

I really liked the first film but was very disappointed by how shoddy the second one was - aside from the chase through the forest it just felt a self-indulgent mess that wasted some promising elements. But the box-office improved slightly worldwide and the home video numbers were consistent with the first, so audiences were clearly more forgiving.

Ritchie did great so far in my opinion.

The problem is he also made it his own - e.g. Vaughn wouldn't just go for a simple "journeyman" approach and is also a friend of Ritchie.

So if this franchise decides to change director - we are more likely to get Louis Letterier than Vaughn.
