Some directors support Sean Parker's idea to see new releases at home.
Most of the complains about going to the theatre are about money. Paying extra is a better option? Even when you consider gas (assuming you drive instead of walking to a near theatre)? And food & drinks, which are over-expensive, but no one is forced to buy them? Look: Going to the theatre is an experience. There can be awful people in the room, but to me the good outweighs the bad. Specially with comedies. When I'm in a room of people laughing, it makes me laugh harder than I would if I was alone. Watching movies at home is confortable, but I enjoy it as an alternative to the real experience. Also, I think only a certain type of cinephiles are desperate to watch a movie ASAP. Is it that important? I don't always watch them immediately and I still manage to avoid spoilers. Not to mention that these people will only do this for blockbusters with good word of mouth. Don't you see the problem with that? A lot of people don't pay tickets when they think a movie will be bad. If they're willing to pay for a movie they think will be good, why not just let them do that in a theatre?
