help w/ a film

i am looking for the title of a movie about an artist that i saw at the video store a year ago, and at the time it was new-ish. i read the back and thought it sounded interesting but didn't get it and now i don't know where to look. It was based on a real man and i think the film was actually some his work mixed in(animation???)...not really sure. it seemed biographical. i remember reading that experienced things like a child and was naive to many thing in the world like sex greed....

any help is much appreciated!

I'm baffled, but intrigued by your description. Could it be Modigliani? There is a biographical film about him starring Andy Garcia that features a character of him as a boy who often appears along with his adult self. The child comforts and confronts him in several key scenes. Hope this helps.
