Great Biographical Movies

I have 2 movies that come to mind that to me are excellent examples of Biographical Movies -

The Spirit of St. Louis (1957) - James Stewart is a one man show as Charles Lindbergh making his flight to Paris. With Billy Wilder directing this is one of the better Biographical Movies.

The Glenn Miller Story (1954) James Stewart as the Bandleader with June Allyson as his wife. This movie tells the Miller story very well with Anthony Mann directing and features Gene Krupa, the great drummer in the supporting cast as well as Harry Morgan.

If you have any Biographical movies you think are great and would like to add, reply here.

The Story of Louis Pasteur http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0028313/

I saw this movie many years ago and it was very good (as well as educational).
It's the biography of the man who invented pasteurization and made the first vaccine against rabies.

Thanks for recalling this one for me. I have seen this one and remember it was an excellent film with Paul Muni great in this and it being a very well contructed film on Louis and Marie Pasteur.

I seem to remember seeing a fairly good biographic movie on the life of Marie Curie but do not recall the cast of it right now.

You're welcome. It's so funny you should mention the Madame Curie movie because I thought about it when I responded to your post (but was too lazy to look it up).

It's been a long time since I watched it but I remember it was really well done too.

You got it, Geer Garson, think I saw it on Turner Classic Movies a while back.

Henry Fonda did a good job acting in 1939's Young Mr. Lincoln which is considered Biographical. The thing is, it strays quite a ways from the true Biography of Lincoln with a Perry Mason type of court trial that is totally fiction. Still, it is a pretty good film from that magic year of 1939.

If it did not stray so far from the truth, I'd rank it better as a Biography.

I'm not sure if it exactly counts as a biopic but Schindler's list is one of my favorites.
