Charles Lindbergh

Is it time yet? For a movie about the whole life of Charles Lindbergh ? We saw Jimmy Stewart fly across the Atlantic and we've been through the kidnapping of his oldest son. Now, I'd like to see one that went on - to his days as a Nazi sympathizer and his admiration for Hitler, his blatant racism, especially his hatred for the Jews, his belief in "breeding" people to produce superior specimens? His two or three 'other' wives and families in Germany? His intellectually superior wife, the writer Anne Morrow Lindbergh and the cruelness to his wife and children?

No one wants to tarnish the career of Jimmy Stewart. But I think that now we need to see the story of this hero with feet of clay.

Since I happen to believe he was involved in the kidnapping of his son, I think a warts-and-all movie would certainly be interesting.

Sounds like he had a lot of skeletons in his closet but he was one of the icons of the 1920's, the Jazz Age. I like the Jimmy Stewart movie. When that film was made I think it was a time when all the bad things you mention about Lindberg would never have been put in any film about him. Plus I doubt Jimmy Stewart would have been in any film portraying a Nazi sympathizer or any man who admired Hitler. I think Hollywood at the time Stewart was in the Lindberg film, 1957, knew the public thought of him as a hero and any negative portrayal of Lindberg would turn audiences off. The film would have been a failure. Now a lot of people don't even know who he was and I don't think Hollywood would be interested in making a truthful film about him.
