does ur dog scare your dates

My dog is very protective but good as in she will listen if i have someone over she barks and just sniffs them then goes and does her own thing. She keeps one eye on them suspicious and takes a while to warm up to someone before she might interact with them.

Every date i have had over is terrified of her though and begged me not to let her out . The last one was a big jock bouncer type person who is probably like 200lbs he was uneasy the whole time he was over even tho she was in the basement, I didnt let her out cause i could see he didnt trust her even tho he had a dog. I even told him she just wanted to sniff him to see who the new guest is.

Anyone else have experiences like this?
