Means, be very careful with treatments what may help humans but could kill your buddy.
NEVER use Tea Tree oil (Melaleuca oil) on Cats!
Won't discuss if perhaps a better / cleaner oil can be used, cause too much cats meanwhile died by this essential oil.
Eucalyptus is also toxic to cats, dogs and horses.

What disturbs me, that on most websites where they praise essential oils for pets, sooner or later you'll land on the merchandise-site...and many of their oil-mixes contain Catnip.
Nearly every cat loves Catnip!...they behave like addicted....similar effect has Valerian.
Now it's of course the oil-mix, what cats like so much. 

Everybody has to decide him-/herself what to use.
But please note:

Thank you for your post!! I have been ranting for years about people using human things on pets, like essential oils and herbs. This stuff is not to be used on animals. They are very sensitive and it will hurt or kill them! I don't even give my cats catnip. I know they seem to like it, but see how it alters their behavior and if if they eat enough of it, which is not much, they start to have awful runs. That means it's toxic to their bodies. Not good.

Copy-and-paste may be convenient. Leastwise you should understand what you copy and what you talk about. Catnip and Valerian are harmless for cats, overdosage nearly impossible. It's not as after too much beer starting awful runs and banging your head against the wall. 

Aside, some herbs can be very helpful, for animals also.
Essential oils are something else, but even there's to distinguish.
Alas, many people cannot distinguish.

Catnip is not harmful to your cat. They won't overdose on it. Most cats know when they've had enough and will refuse any further offers.
