Eggshell-eatin' critters
I live in New Jersey, and any time I dispose of eggshells at the back of my house,
some animal comes by in the night to take them away. I'm trying to figure out what
animal or animals are such fervent eggshell gourmets. I know there's a skunk and also a red fox that hangs out in the fields behind the house, and it's probably the fox who's the most fond of any scraps that my fussy dog and cat may leave behind. There's also an opossum
and a raccoon or two. There's been a bear and even a coyote (!) in recent years.
But I'd like to know which of these animals has a specific thing for eggshells?
I'm not crying, you fool, I'm laughing!
