If it is German as it seems to be, is probably a good basis.
Most of the modern German war-movies I have liked, Stalingrad,Europe Europa, Untergangen, original in German Valkyrie a couple of years b4 the Tom Cruise disaster..
the mini-series, foreget wtf it's translated title was, 'our family" or something, started out like a house on fire, but ran off the rails about half-way..
Napola-Elite Fur den Fuhrer" is one that never gets talked about much here...Hitler Jugend boot camp...well done for first half or three quarters, then descends into moralising and sentimentality after they are called out of camp to hunt escaped Soviet POWs..
I haven't seen Elite Fur den Fuhrer, Ill have to see that. Another good series was Generation War, which is in German;maybe that's the one you're talking about. Really good, only complaint is that they could have made it longer.
This movie though, sounds like something on the level of SPR/Fury, if I read their Facebook page. Which is what I think would be something that has been unseen in film history, if they get it right.
Ah Landa! Die Sind Sie Hier!

it was it...it was good looking, and for a start, I thought, this is going to be great..but it steadily became implausible and incoherent in plot..
there was a German mini-series or period soap 'Heimat" maybe 10-12-15 years back...I should have checked that out.
Ya, actually it was a while since I saw GW so I may have looked over some flaws that I can't remember. I liked it because I hadn't seen anything like it before. I bet "Heimat" is somewhere on YouTube

Ah Landa! Die Sind Sie Hier!
no, that expression "it isn't 'alf X he doesn't 'arf (whatever) means, he REALLY looks the part!!
was an old comedy about British soldiers in India .."It ain't 'alf hot, Mum! "
means it's really hot.
Oh, lol 😂 that flew right over my head; it makes sense now, idk how I missed that
