Grana Padano cheese??
Hey all, my wife picked up a bottle of pesto sauce with which to make some pasta, and it was freaking fabulous. Digress: we grow our own basis and make pesto, but this year we had a lot going on and didn't grow any. We sometimes get pesto sauce from Costco but it's meh in my opinion.
The pesto my wife bought is Priano Alla Genovese pesto sauce and she got it at Aldi's and it was cheap (like $2). It was so much better than the stuff Costco usually sells we went back and bought several more bottles to last the winter in case they don't carry it anymore.
Anyway, the ingredients are pretty much what you'd expect - basil, olive oil, etc., this used cashews instead of pine nuts (we've used cashews ourselves and we like it) but instead of using Romano or Parmesan, it used Grana Padano.
Does anyone know about this cheese, use it, like it, not like it? It's imported and does have some certification to it. Supposed to be a lot like Parmesan, and I'm wondering if the cheese used is what makes this pesto so good. I hate to admit it but I think I like it more than the one we make fresh.
