Make your own vanilla extract
All you need is Vanilla beans and hard liquor (vodka, rum, rye, whiskey).
Get a forty ounce bottle of hard alcohol (40%). Vodka is preferred as it gives the cleanest flavor. You need about 5 beans (1 vanilla bean for every six to eight ounces). Slice the bean open lengthwise and put it in a jar and seal the lid. Keep in a cool dark place for six months occasionally shaking the bottle.
Your vanilla is ready.
