What restaurant? Maybe you had real Kobe beef, maybe not. IF you were in Japan than the chances are it's the real deal. BUT if outside of Japan then it's questionable at best. Here in the US ONLY nine restaurants serve certified Kobe beef imported from Japan. The rest serve American-style Kobe beef. In that other thread I give a link to those nine restaurants. If you had yours here in America and the restaurant you went to ISN'T on the list...then you DIDN'T have real Kobe beef from Kobe, Japan. Simple as that.
Anyway do know the one (or two?) beefs in Japan that are considered EVEN better than Kobe beef? A Google search will come-up with the answer if you don't.
