Name an underrated dish hardly anyone makes, eats or talks about

It must be a regional thing because they are everywhere around here (greater Boston area). I guess it must be due to clusters of certain ethnic populations.

My local supermarket has them for sale at the deli/prepared food area. And there is a greek grocery store in my neighborhood where i buy my yogurt each week. They have some prepared foods there as well.

I don't go out to eat that often and tend to go to the same two places, but there are dozens of ethnic restaurants all around me and i'd bet they are on the menu.


But for some reason what we don't have a lot of in this area are good BBQ joints. For years there were only 2 places in all of Greater Boston, and frankly neither of them were that good. I think because New England isn't known for bbq we had nothing to compare it to and really no competetion.

Then several years ago another place opened nearby. I went once and it was very good. I also went to a place several years ago on the Mass./RI border and that was probably the best bbq i've ever had. I think it was the real thing, but i've heard that place closed.

In the last year a couple more places have opened up in the city. I saw them featured on a local tv show. The menu prices look a bit high and one had some mediocre yelp reviews.

I recall you saying you lived in this general area, though I don't recall where.

If you make it to the Norwood area I highly recommend 'The Feisty Greek'.

As for BBQ, my go to place has become Commonwealth BBQ in Wrentham. Just up the road from the outlets. A little on the expensive side, and only a few picnic tables (no indoor seating) but the food is really good.

I can't think of one at the moment, but if you're ever in our area - try the Happy Greek or Mr. Gyro for excellent dolma.

It really is very regional like falcone said up there, but I sure do miss some Armenian sandwiches too. Anything fresh and fragrant really.

We also have a Greek festival coming up in September.  I'll buy the food if you want to come. 

I love it when they are BBQ-ing pulpo and douse it in ouzo. Yes the flames skyrocket.

You can always spot the cook, no eyebrows.
