So what's the plan? Have we decided on a site to first gather and then decide on a final site?

Some sites won't allow you to post like here, instead your're forced to post in chronological order which is NOT desirable.

What is the general consensus? Where are gonna go?

I've joined the four in my prior post, and plan to settle at greekgirl's board on quicktopic while we figure out where the board will end up. I suggest everyone do that so we have at least one accessible gathering place for those who want to stay together as a group. Eventually I think there will be critical mass on one of the boards and we'll end up there.

Thanks very much for this list. I'll add them to my Alternatives board. It's also good to see mine is included. It often isn't. I've made it my goal to provides the alternatives for people. I don't think mine will take off, but I suspect in 6 months time might be one of the few that still resembles the original boards. You may consider that a good or bad thing, I'm just providing an alternative and I can see infighting on the other boards when they wish to shut down forums, which people seem to gravitate towards. I do have the emoticons (and over 100 more from the same series), but to date haven't managed to lure any of the film devotees crowd, just a very small amount of general talk members. I love the fact that you have the emoticons, but unless you're in with the in-crowd, you can be completely ignored. For instance, everyone on one thread was wondering what the difference between polenta and grits were. Folks were settled on the idea that there really wasn't a difference. I point out that not only is polenta yellow and grits are white, but the manufacturing process is totally different. The cooking is even different if you're doing it on top of the stove. It doesn't take 30 minutes to make grits, but for creamy, stovetop polenta, yes.

My response was completely ignored. I felt as though they should have said, "Everyone with the secret decoder ring, what's the difference between grits and polenta?" If you're not part of the club, they don't want to hear from you, even if you're the only one who knows the answer.

So one of the problems is that y'all are kind of clique-y. Just a little bit.

The other problem is that you don't have individual boards for the individual movies and actors/actresses. You can't expect anything other than general talk when you don't have the boards for the individual movies and artists. It's just not set up for discussions like this board is. The up side is that your board claims to have standards for posting, and that people can be blocked for persistently using filthy language or disrespecting others. And you have those wonderful emoticons! Those are both enormous positives, but not enough to bring movie people in, or keep people who aren't deemed one of the "cool kids" when those outside the clique are almost always ignored.
