If the missiles and bombs start flying between Lebanon, Iran & Israel, it will be horrendous

This will not be the usual stuff. I can't believe Israel is striking such a reckless course.

It will be Israel vs Lebanon, Iran, all proxies, w/ the US more or less now alone back-stopping Israel's missile defense system - the IDF, a conscript army used to battling peasants, is exhausted.

Our expectations of how these things have proceeded in past decades is obsolete. Hizbollah now has long-range guided missiles in bulk, capable of barrages the likes of which have never been previously on hand or in use. We should all be very concerned about the situation in the Levant. Because we're going to be stuck, too.

It is no coincidence, either, that Netanyahu & Co are pushing this brinkmanship in the run-up to a US election. They are the tail, but they wag the dog, every time.

TBH, I'm baffled by all this - it seems as if Israel has committed itself to a no-end-in-sight genocide, regardless of the follow-on effects from Iranian backed proxies. They are blundering, somewhat similarly to the US post 9/11. Except we get to recover from our insane over-reaches, while they have much less margin for error, though they do have nukes if things go really sideways.
