After 162 years the store says we are closing because of so much crime.

"Gump's previously closed in December 2018 after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, but it reopened the following year after being purchased by Chachas."
The store has had financial problems for many years.
Not surprising, having teh city turn into a LITERAL shit hole with high crime, probably discouraged customers nicely.
Not like it started last week.
Put your money where your mouth is! Help keep the shop open with a purchase of a lovely coffee pot for $1,275:

Hey, rich West Coast people have been happy to spend money on shit like that for over a hundred years. Are you pretending to not be aware of that? Did you miss all the stupid rich people like, forever?
Have you ever told the truth about anything?
"Gump's San Francisco could close after 166 years due to dwindling foot traffic"
Not anymore. People work from home. Many downtown areas have less foot traffic, therefore stores are closing. There were record bankruptcies because of Covid which continue:
"... out of 203 retailers open in 2019 in the city's Union Square area, just 107 are still operating, a drop of 47 percent in just a few pandemic-ravaged years"
31% office vacancies; 65% less foot traffic; $196 million less tax revenue:

You don't understand Capitalism, the economy nor business.
Yes this is just as likely adding the exodus of the white shopper to the crime and shoplifting.
shareHelp keep them in business! You can buy a lovely hairpin for the lady in your life for $2,995:

That is for the one white person left in San Fransisco.
shareBuy online. Save the store!
shareWhat have you bought?
shareYour local chapter of the MC KKK should pool your resources together and buy something.
shareSo did you buy something?
shareI'm not the one raving about its closure by scapegoating a marginalized group which is typical Fascist behavior. You are!
I'm convinced a bunch of rich execs pillaged the store's coffers and screwed over the working-class employees.
Not cool that owner John "Let them eat cake" Chachas, multi-millionaire Republican is whining about poor people around the store. What an elitist, arrogant POS he is!
"Aug 13, 2018 — Gump's, a storied luxury department store in San Francisco, has begun a going-out-of-business sale after 157 years in business."

"The return of Gump’s: After bankruptcy, new owners test out a second act. Second acts are not easy in retailing. The list of stores that haven’t succeeded is unfortunately long and studded with well-known names."

>I'm not the one raving about its closure by scapegoating a marginalized group which is typical Fascist behavior.
You're blaming the management; not the fact that SF economy is plummeting under Democrat rule, and certainly not blaming the shoplifters because the city is now a crime-ridden shithole.
Yes, management is in charge of managing their own stores. A multi-millionaire former investment banker whining about impoverished homeless people is a bad look.
"Let them eat cake!"
So? That's one store closing, more likely due to poor sales. Store closings are coming to a town near you!
"Nearly 2,400 stores are closing across the US in 2023. Here's the full list.

Store closing signs at a checkout counter of a Bed Bath and Beyond.
Bed Bath & Beyond closed 896 stores in 2023. Ben Tobin
More than a dozen major retailers have said they will close US stores in 2023, a combined total of 2,373 locations.
Amazon, Bath & Body Works, Walmart, and Foot Locker are among the chains shutting down stores.
Bed Bath & Beyond closed 896 locations amid bankruptcy — the most of any retailer on the list."
So when you look on the news and see the smash & grab occurring, you can tell 99% of the time it's members of the black community doing it given their rear end hangs out of the back of their pants with the chain dragging the ground.. When you see this and you know damn well you do, do you close your eyes, cover your ears and scream LALALALALA to drown this out or what?? And even worse, is the Biden Administration welcomes this given how they're all in on "Defunding the Police"??
shareBed Bath & Beyond spent $11.8 billion in a stock buyback program which helped crash the company with extra debt. They had no money left to buy inventory. They also had financial problems for over a decade because of competition with Walmart's, Target and Amazon. It sounds like a sleazy way for rich folks to become richer. They basically bankrupt the company for personal profit.
Bed, Bath & Beyond no longer exists. Another company bought the name for $21.5 million and will sell "things" online only.
Similar story with other stores I liked. Executives takeout huge loans and pocket the cash and expect the company to pay back which they can't. All stores are closed in a bankruptcy. Someone buys the name for cheap and sells "things" online. Whatever they sell isn't the same quality or services as the original store.
Welcome to Dementia Joe Land. This is what you voted for right?
shareLook at these liberal slimeballs making excuses for the criminals.
shareLet them keep outing themselves.
You should see the way they defend China with covid and fentanyl.
Pendulum is swinging back, soon common sense and intelligent people will take over.
These Democrats are beyond incompetent, they are either in collusion with the enemy or just plain stupid..
That is the Democrats plans coming to fruition.
No cash bail, refusing to charge for theft.
Keep disrupting society.
The Democrats are systematically working to weaken and undermine American values.
A 150 year old store closing is in their goals.
Democrats are working with foreign enemies on this.
Democrat cities in Democrat states
share”The surge in remote working during the pandemic caused an exodus of workers from states like New York and California to Texas and Florida in search of lower taxes and living costs, a better climate, and the chance to escape the hustle and bustle in big cities. San Francisco's population fell by 7.5% between April 2020 and July 2022 to around 808,400, per estimates from the US Census Bureau.”
The result of the “exodus of workers” to Texas and Florida is they are bringing with them their idiotic Democrat voting mentality with them. Wait a few years and these numb sculls will have turned Texas & Florida into another filthy New York and California. I’ve lived and heard it. Years ago I was heavy into politics. After Disney scores of people moved here (Florida) to escape the living conditions and heavy taxes.
After being settled and enjoying the freedoms of their new states their old illogical thoughts began coming to the surface once again. The old adage ”Situations change…people don’t.” nailed it! I began hearing “That isn’t how we did it up North!” We responded with the door swings both ways. Have you forgotten why you left those states? Blank looks from dumb people. Some did leave, but became “half-backs” by moving to North Carolina. So now half the state of Florida has been taken over by the Democrat nitwits. Same goes for North Carolina.
Sometimes you just can’t fix stupid! Pre-Disney we had a paradise here in Florida and didn’t realize it. I swear it seems like the whole nation is moving here and turning Florida into one gigantic parking lot. Same with Houston. The flooding in these states isn’t the result of the liberal cries of global warming. It’s from downing every tree, turning over every blade of grass in order to pour more concrete and asphalt.
