Berlusconi: One dickhead down

I don't particularly want anyone to die. I'm anti-death penalty. And I'd much rather Trump et al chose to bow out from public life peacefully than see them suffer a nasty death. I don't wish harm on my biggest enemies. But in view of all the harm these men, and some women, have done to the world at large, I can't say I'm too sad to see one of them gone.

And, yeah, I'd rather have 'establishment' politicians over loud-mouth trouble-causing demagogues. I'm no fan of the establishment, but these 'mavericks' never tend to make things better, only worse (much worse). Besides, when people say 'the establishment' these days, they just generally mean people who play by the rules, rather than ignore the Constitution and break the law, as Trump has done, or ignore Parliamentary rules regarding the honours system (etc) as Boris Johnson has tried to do. Trump and Johnson have or had as much power and privilege than any other insider from the world of business and the media, but they consigned themselves to be treated as 'outsiders' because they chose to break the rules in their own favour. Sorry, but I don't generally respect people who break the rules that the rest of society, including plebs like me, are expected to abide by, *especially* if they're only breaking the rules for their own personal and selfish benefit. If they were doing it for oppressed people at large, I might have some respect and understanding for their endeavours, but if it's just to line their own pockets, consolidate their power, prolong their legacy, or do a favour for a select friend (usually another criminal who helped them out of a jam), fuck em.

So, yeah, without necessarily being a fan of the establishment, given the choice between them and an extremist 'maverick' especially a far-right one, I'd rather stick with the relatively competent *career politician*.
