Florida's Curriculum Transparency Law and Cancel Culture

Isn't this GOP state law the ultimate example of cancel culture? They're trying to permamently remove books from schools and libraries.

I just find it funny, because conservatives are usually the first people to complain about so-called 'Cancel Culture'.

FWIW, I'm actually inclined to agree, on balance when it comes to banning stuff. Unless someone has committed a *really* serious crime, I don't generally like to see people or things cancelled either, but it seems that some conservatives are rather hypocritical on this front, and are only bothered about 'Cancel Culture' when it's something they hold dear that is cancelled, and not something that challenges their world view.

By contrast, non-extremist libs like me tend to believe in upholding and supporting free expression, whatever the politics and agenda of the people involved.

We don't want false or bad ideas to be taught in our schools. That's not cancel culture.

Of course it's cancel culture. You're removing books you don't agree with from school libraries. They're not even necessarily books that are being used as classroom texts.

Being opposed to cancel culture does not mean that we are not allowed to have any standards or not rejected clearly false ideas.

Such as CRT.

No just removing racist inaccurate curriculum.

Try getting your facts straight next time. Democrat gaslighting doesn’t fly around here.
