I bet this was a thought for alcoholics back when all they could do is put them in asylums. I don't have the answer but an asylum might be a better idea than death.

I have heard of castration for hopeless cases of pedos. That might be another idea short of death.

I'm in the US and I would support the death penalty for pedophiles. The only tricky part might be determining the cutoff age for a child since children reach puberty at different ages. I would argue that sexually assaulting a child aged twelve or under would be worthy of the death penalty.
I wouldn't support the death penalty for a person who was caught in an online sting and showed up at a house without committing the sexual act. I would support some sort of underage sex charges for people caught in an online sting.
