Why Does The GOP Hate Veterans?

On Wednesday afternoon, a procedural vote to advance legislation aimed at helping millions of veterans exposed to toxins failed in the Senate, leaving Democrats and advocates alike fuming.

What You Need To Know
The Promise to Address Comprehensive Toxins Act, also known as the PACT Act, would largely expand eligibility for free medical care through the Department of Veterans Affairs, for thousands of veterans who have been exposed to toxic chemicals

With 60 votes needed to advance, the outcome of the vote on Wednesday was 55-42, with 25 Republicans who supported a previous version of the bill changing their vote to a ‘no’

In June, the bill passed the Senate 84-14; The legislation was ready to be passed by the House, but the bill was delayed as there was one section of the legislation that was being debated by Veterans Affairs Committee leaders

Not only would this bill expand health coverage for veterans who served post-9/11, but the bill would also extend coverage to health issues caused by Agent Orange, a toxic deforestation chemical used by the U.S. military during the Vietnam War

To be fair, they seem to hate everyone.

reply

They seem to get along well with CEOs.

reply

More fake news/propaganda. Do you ever tire of hating just to hate?

reply

They didn't always hate us. Cadet Bonespurs had a lot to do with this phenomenon.

reply

Nah, the phenomenon definitely predates President Dumbass: I can remember a popular slogan on the Grateful Dead Usenet group circa 2000 was "Republicans hate you and want you dead!"

reply

At least George W. and George H.W. Butch didn't set up phony scam charities in the name of veterans. Cadet Bonespurs and The Trump Family Crime Foundation can lay sole claim to that honor.

reply

This kind of crap, these political games people like you play that are solely intended to provoke an emotional response from people, is exactly why we never get anywhere. The bottom line is that YOU don't care about veterans (or women, or blacks, or children, or even homos), their only value to you is how those groups can be used to demonize and attack the other side. You make me sick.

This thread isn't about veterans though, it's about GOP ... Hence their point.

reply

I don't hate veterans, so please stop with the hyperbole. I give more to veterans monthly than cunts like you ever do. I also know people that died from exposure to toxic chemicals while in the military. People like you don't actually give a shit about them, you're just using this for your political game. Like I said. Everything about you people is phony.

A whole bunch of unnecessary homo pork spending was added that wasn't there in the beginning. You would think they would be just happy with fudge packing each other than do this junk.
Cornyn said Republicans wanted to negotiate to “eliminate some of the mandatory spendings in the bill.”
Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Penn., who voted against the legislation in June, has remained vocally critical of the bill. Yesterday, after the vote, he said that the bill included a “budget gimmick" that moved $400 billion over 10 years from “discretionary to the mandatory spending category,” which he considered unreasonable. His view did not change in Wednesday's vote.

reply

And that is exactly why republicans vote against such bills. Because democrats always sneak bullshit pork spending into an otherwise useful bill.

Fake news.
