Total idiocy if you ask me. A typical electric car takes 8 hours to charge. I don't have electricity in my garage. Where am I supposed to charge my car?
There's going to be charging stations and such while you sleep and while you're not in your vehicle. It'll still suck traveling to nowhere though without a charging station nearby. One thing's for sure EV's won't work in a post-apocalypse world.
shareThere's also another problem. Say you put your car charging overnight in your garage. And then say there is power outage during the night. You go your car next morning thinking you'll go to work, but you car is uncharged.
Or imagine if something unexpected happens right after you put your car on charging and you have to make a loner trip. You have to wait until it gets charged enough for you to make your trip. Electric cars are impractical.
Just go with the thinking right now as in the future you if you don't have a house now you will never have one. Then say if living in a housing complex it is a good place for having a car out in some parking area.
