African-American MAGA supporter jailed for 14 months over online threats

I found it interesting that an African-American was jailed for online threats when a lot of people are saying that only WHITE SUPREMACISTS stormed the capitol on January 6th. The gentleman says that two African-Americans were jailed for their roles in the January 6th riot. This guy says that he didn't go inside the capitol BUT he did post threatening messages the day after the riot. I don't have a problem with his sentence since he did post threatening messages.

This is an important reminder for all social media posters to exercise restraint when posting on controversial topics so they don't end up in jail.

anyone that supports Trump is a enemy of the state, doesnt matter what their skin color is,
why do think that only people Trump knows are getting in trouble?

reply

"anyone that supports Trump is a enemy of the state"

Wow! A true statement from JoWilli, who'd a thunk it?

reply

Who said "only white supremacists" stormed the capitol on January 6th?

I want names.

reply

Joe Biden said that the insurrection at the capitol was about white supremacy while a few commentators in the NBC article below cited whiteness and white rage as the primary motivators for the capitol riot. I'm not sure if I can find a person who said "only white supremacists" were involved BUT a lot of commentators do blame white supremacy for Trump's popularity and the capitol riot. I contend that white supremacy was not the impetus for the riot when people of color were involved/arrested.

Going by the dozens of 1/06 videos, it looked pretty much like honkyville

reply

I don't see anything there that says "only white supremacists" stormed the capitol.

You can't bullshit your way out of this one.

Joe Biden said it was about white supremacy and he said it was about Trump's web of election lies. He's right. It was about multiple things. Not just one.

reply

People are blaming white supremacy for the capitol riot BUT that is not the case if people of color attended and were arrested. I pulled the quotes from the articles that are relevant.

“The violent, deadly insurrection on the Capitol nine months ago, it was about white supremacy, in my opinion,” Biden said of the Jan. 6 riot

“What we’re seeing is vintage white rage,” says Carol Anderson, an Emory University professor and the author of “White Rage: The Unspoken Truth of Our Racial Divide.”

"It's entirely about the perceived loss of the power of whiteness," said Bree Newsome Bass, the human rights activists known for taking down a Confederate flag at the South Carolina Statehouse in 2015.

reply

Nonsense! Nobody said ONLY white supremacists. But, they were clearly among the mob.

The overwhelming majority of the mob were white, middle-aged men!

Troy Smocks is clearly radicalized since he's making threats online and his activities have ruined his family life.

reply

BS! Prove it! Give me names of three purported white supremacists that were arrested for the January 6th capitol riot. I contend that these people were Trump supporters who wanted to overturn the election.

While my initial post did say that a lot of people said that ONLY white supremacists attended the riot, I corrected that by noting that multiple commentators were blaming white supremacy for the capitol riot. You completely ignored the quotes from commentators blaming the riot on white supremacy, vintage white rage and the perceived loss of the power of whiteness.

reply

You're arguing to argue.

"I contend that these people were Trump supporters (white supremacists) who wanted to overturn the election."

Agreed.

"blaming the riot on white supremacy, vintage white rage and the perceived loss of the power of whiteness."

The commentators I listen to are blaming Trump for the riot.

Some of Trump supporters do fit that demographic.

reply

He's just another shill for propagandists. Just like every Trumper on here.

reply

Still nothing pertaining to someone saying only white supremacists stormed the capitol.

Your Bullshit has failed.

The only name eveyone is aware of that day was a guy named John Sullivan, a former blm member.

This guy is seen on video evidence telling 2 officers to walk away form a door , which they do.
This was minutes before an narmed white women was shot by a black man.

The white women he was with that day exchange damaging evidence between each other, which he assures her it will be deleted.

This day tells him while inside the capitol, you were right, your were right.
He responds, I know, I just couldn't talk about it before today.

That's evidence of prior knowledge.

And I'm sure these guy and him lady accomplice are locked up like everyone else ?

reply

Haven't you heard? Black Conservatives are white supremacists now or uncle toms. From Larry Elder to ex-Kanye to that Georgia black lady with Youngkin.

reply

Black people are just as capable of grifting as white people, especially when they start making money.
