If we're going to consider certain countries as geopolitical enemies within a specific geopolitical boundary, then it only makes sense that they extend their boundary to the outer space directly above them, giving them the freedom to shoot down any unmanned craft above them that they choose.

True. Economies are interconnected. They can't hurt us without hurting themselves. China appears to be more interested in making money rather than war. Dummy U.S. spent billions in Afghanistan before fleeing. China just waltzed in and signed a lucrative rare earths/minerals rights deal with Afghanistan.
