BREAKING: At least 17 injured in Tokyo subway knife and arson attack

At least 17 people have been injured in a knife and arson attack on an underground train line in the Japanese capital of Tokyo.

Video footage shows passengers running through carriages away from flames and clambering out of train windows.

Eyewitness reports and footage appears to show a suspect in a bright purple and green suit, similar to the Joker character from the Batman comics.

"I thought it was a Halloween stunt," one witness told the Yomiuri newspaper about the attack. "Then, I saw a man walking this way, slowly waving a long knife."

And when he finished knifing and blowing up the section, he sat down and calmly smoked a cig. WOW!

reply

How do 17 people just get fucked up by one dude with a knife?

reply

The same way 4 pieces of human trash using box cutters caused an airplane full of passengers to crash in a field in Pennsylvania. There’s no rhyme or reason other than evil taking over by using shock and awe.

reply

I suppose you’re right. I’m just always surprised when this kind of thing happens. It always seems like a group of people would react, unarm and overcome with numbers alone.

reply

It’s the surprise effect. And as a whole I believe the Japanese are a humble people who don’t expect evil. But when you think about it how many of us would react quickly enough and go into defense mode?

reply

I apparently overestimate the human will to survive. Also, I’m paranoid and think stuff like this could always be around the corner.

reply

So am I. I’m always on guard. My friend and I were talking one day, both of us women, about being accosted in a parking lot by scum with a knife or gun and attempting to get us into a vehicle. Both of said we hoped we had presence of mind to just fall down or fight like hell because once you’re in the vehicle you’re going to be dead anyway.

reply

I think that’s how I frame things in my mind, through the lens of a Woman. I’ve always been on guard but it’s been intensified from having a Daughter.
