There are cases where it has been shown that a person identifying as the opposite sex has a brain that matches the sex that they identify as. But these are rare.
You don't have to give me your logins for peer reviewed papers because the public has access to all articles after being reviewed by peers, that's how it works from a university or lab. Public access is why they write and review the articles.
This isn't your conversation. I asked for a link, I didn't demand one. if asked I would provide plenty but it seems that Intothenight knows what I was referring to. I've had this discussion before on another page if you'd like links to read for yourself but please start a new discussion rather than butting into one I was having with someone else and acting childish.
I don’t appreciate or want to engage with your aggression. I am on this planet to learn and evolve as a human being, what I have learned from you is that you’re an extremely angry person with a chip on your shoulder and I don’t want to talk to you because it brings me down. I’ve just had enough. It’s not worth it to me.
When you are developing in the womb you have different sex hormones bombarding you, if you get enough testosterone at the right time you get a dick, too much estrogen while the brain is developing you essentially get a female brain. You are what your brain is. If you had your head in a jar like in futurama you would be a male even though you don’t have a dick.
Your chromosomes determine whether you are female or male. It doesn’t matter how much testosterone or estrogen you have, you are what your chromosomes say you are. If a woman loads herself up with testosterone she may begin looking male, facial hair, chest hair, etc., she is still female. Same with men. They can have surgery to change their sex parts, take estrogen or testosterone, etc., etc. to make themselves into what they “feel” they are, it doesn’t change the XY male and XX female chromosomes. Their gender is determined by the chromosomes, not how much estrogen or testosterone they have. You are not what your brain is!
So if your brain doesn’t know what you are, is it a safe bet to be called an “it”?
You either have male XY chromosomes or female XX chromosomes. It is what it is! If your gender is XY male you will have a tallywacker. If your gender is XX you will have what we call in the South a split tail. Sometimes nature plays a trick and you end up with one of each therefore you are classified as a hermaphrodite. You may have exterior male genitalia and at the same time your interior is female. Parents who chose to have surgery after the child was born took a gamble due to not knowing if the child was a he or a she...an XY or an XX. Some chose to wait to see which was more dominant. With the advent of DNA the parents can choose which part or parts to remove.
The chromosomes determine what gender you are...not your brain! You can’t change this fact.
If you had read the article you would know that it explains why if you were just a head in a jar you would still be a male head or a female head. I don’t know what else to tell ya, I don’t want to explain the whole article.
You seem to be missing the difference in hormones in the womb while you are developing and hormones in your own body taken after you are done developing. These are drastically different things.
Your source is irrelevant to the conversation at hand. Gender dysphoria being a mental illness is the topic.
78% of gender minority students meet the criteria for one or more mental health disorders, as compared with 45% of cisgender students. 60% of gender minority students screened positive for depression, and more than one third reported seriously thinking about suicide in the past year. https://www.reuters.com/article/us-health-transgender-college-students/gender-minority-college-students-at-increased-mental-health-risk-idUSKCN1VC21X
Persons with transsexualism, after sex reassignment, have considerably higher risks for mortality, suicidal behaviour, and psychiatric morbidity than the general population. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/21364939/
The rates of depressive symptoms (51.4% for transgender women; 48.3% for transgender men) and anxiety (40.4% for transgender women; 47.5% for transgender men) within the current study far surpass the rates of those for the general population. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23398495/
Yes, there is something seriously going wrong here. There are reports of parents permitting their children to have surgery to “correct” what their child thinks is wrong with them! Permitting a 13 year old girl to have her breasts removed because she felt like she was a boy!
Hells Bells! I was a tomboy. I preferred toys for boys. I didn’t like dolls or “dress up” in my mom’s heels, etc. I played boy’s games. I could best them on a swing set. I played with my brother’s toys. I was very unhappy when I started to develop as a young girl. I wanted to stay flat chested, but eventually nature became stronger than what my brain wanted. I became the female I was supposed to be...what my XX chromosomes said I was. “I Am Woman!”
I often wonder how many misdiagnoses of gender dysphoria there have been. There doesn't seem to be consistency, with many professionals having their own criteria and standards for diagnosis. In one study only a third of patients were correctly diagnosed. https://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/doi/full/10.1176/appi.ajp.160.7.1332
"CONCLUSIONS: These data suggest that there is little consensus, at least among Dutch psychiatrists, about diagnostic features of gender identity disorder or about the minimum age at which sex reassignment therapy is a safe option. Therapy options proposed to patients with gender identity disorder appear to depend on personal preferences of psychiatrists. These results underline the need for more specific diagnostic rules in this area."
You know what, you may very well have a good point, but you ruin it with your aggression . . .it’s really too bad because we could have a very good and thoughtful discussion but you’ve already proven to me in past discussions what a jerk you are and I have better things to do than spend my day being called names and then being told to shut up and go away, so take your own advice.
