I like Al Franken, when he was on the radio he liked to say that
We stand on the shoulders of the men
Who stood on the shoulders of the men
Who stood on the shoulders of the men
Who stood on the necks of the Indians.
I'm not a big Native American sympathizer. It was a tragedy, like slavery and Jim Crow were tragedies, and there are no real remedies to cure those. I'm also not a big believer in the whole "Noble Savage" narrative.
IMO the world's a better place for Americans' developing this continent. You can't have people chasing buffalo back and forth over land that could feed a billion people. OTOH, we never should have gotten to 2 billion, 4 billion, 8 billion people...
