Should we even care about Uyghurs in Xinjian, China when majority of Muslims countries don't?

https://thediplomat.com/2019/07/which-countries-are-for-or-against-chinas-xinjiang-policies/

Those that signed the first letter, criticizing China, include: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK.

Signing the second letter, in defense of China’s policies, were: Algeria, Angola, Bahrain, Belarus, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Cambodia, Cameroon, Comoros, Congo, Cuba, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Gabon, Kuwait, Laos, Myanmar, Nigeria, North Korea, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Tajikistan, Togo, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe.

Immediately noticeable is the geographic divergence between each list. The first is dominated by Western states, mostly in Europe, and the second stuffed with African and Middle Eastern nations. Importantly, the first letter does not include a single signature from a Muslim-majority state while the second features many, including Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

Seems like even Muslims don't care for their Chinese variant Muslims.

Signing the second letter, which are NOT a dictatorship or theocracy? Egypt, Kuwait, Russia (barely). I bet many in that list owe China money for development.

reply

Good point..just because their government signed the second letter, does not mean the PEOPLE don't care.

Egypt says it is a democracy, but that is like putting lipstick on a pig and calling it pretty.

That's the thing, while US has pulled back and become more a isolationist type mode, China has been influencing and expanding. This is why we need to get back in the game else we'll lose influence soft power. People complain about helping other countries but they also forget it is a power game with China. If US doens't do it, China definitely will fill the void and be the bullies themselves.

reply

Your talking about a long game that leaders in the u.s cannot comprehend anymore.

China is playing the old long war,.
Americans planning 2 days ahead is a task.

How did Turkey vote?

reply

They're part of the UN and a NATO ally?

reply

Barely... Russia/China are trying to pull them in their orbit.

That would be the key vote I would covet.

I would guess they abstained. Not wanting to offend either side.

Muslims aren't a homogeneous group who all share the same ideas. You have Muslim's killing each other all of the time and the Middle East are probably happy to have Chinese support as well, so they are hardly going to care about some Chinese Muslim's who probably have very different ideas of Islam to themselves anyway.

Of the countries who criticized China I just see a lot of SJW nations who were too scared to say they don't give a shit and/or are fearful of China and are trying to sling a few shots which of course will hurt China as much as a bee sting hurts an elephant.

reply

Also why do all muslims in war zones come to the non Muslim west? They never flee to other Muslim countries
