If Trump loses, he may indict himself

...So Pence can pardon him.

Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump's former lawyer and fixer, said he thinks Trump tried to install a loyalist to head up the most powerful US attorney's office so he could arrange to be federally indicted while in office and then pardon himself if he loses the general election in November.
-----
Cohen wrote that he "knew better than anyone" that the reason Trump wanted to replace Berman "was so that while in office, he could arrange to be federally indicted" and then, "in the event he loses the election in November, he could then pardon himself, as he's long claimed to be his right."
-----
"Well, my theory is that if he loses, there's still the time between the election and the time that the next president would take office," Cohen said. "And during that time, my suspicion is that he will resign as president, he will allow Mike Pence to take over, and he will then go ahead and have Mike Pence pardon him.

It's anyone's guess what all the tactics are he has lined up to avoid prison time.

reply

Oh, that would be wonderful. Let him indict himself !

reply

It wouldn't be worth it to let Pence pardon him like that.

reply

Shows you that Cohen is not much of a lawyer. An indictment isn't necessary for a pardon. Ford pardoned Nixon in the absence of any indictment.

reply

That's because Congress pretty much has the power to do anything, and Nixon's impeachment allowed an indirect indictment through Congress. There was a criminal indictment approved by a grand jury, but the proceedings were given to Congress which allowed Nixon to trade his resignation for a pardon.

You do bring up an interesting point though. Trump could hypothetically make a deal with Congress where he resigns before the election in exchange for a pardon.

The dems wouldn't actively impeach Trump before the election. If he loses the election, it might be easier on him if he was impeached, but I don't know. If he wins the election, he obviously prefers not being impeached. I doubt Trump would offer any impeachment trade before the election, but anything is possible with Trump.

reply

Whatever it takes to have him gone. Sure, he doesn't deserve to have his fat ass pulled from the fire bimbo just want him gone at this point--even if it means this.

reply

This could still happen after Biden is certified by the EC as president-elect.

reply

It's still on the table.

reply

remember when all the liberals laughed and said Trump would never be President?

reply

Cenk Uygur of TYT said he would win in Summer of 2016. Michael Moore said a Trump victory was very possible because of how his home state of Michigan was feeling toward Hillary.
