'The Atlantic' has gone completely woke

The Atlantic (est 1857) a magazine that I have read for years has now gone completely woke.

This iconic magazine was considered a centrist- moderate right for most of it's incredible history.

Stories in September 2020

1.THE END OF DENIAL - Trump had revealed the depths of the county's prejudice---and forced Americans to confront a racist system.

2. The Mythology of Racial Progress - Believing that things are getting better actually makes them worse

3. Police Reform is Not Enough - The moral failure of incremental change

4. Looking for Frederick Douglass - How a visit to his birthplace helped me understand this moment in America.

Add to this about 5 more stories that come from a completely liberal viewpoint.

Good. This is exactly where it should be. Progressive, not regressive like the pub platform.

I don't understand why you consider the Atlantic to have been in any way to the conservative side of center.
Unless being moderate and rational and fair-minded appeals to you and you believe those values are reflected in conservative politics. In that case, your party has abandoned you as it's become a mockery of conscious stewardship.
Or perhaps better put, stewardship with a conscience. Pubs have never held this as a value. More that the US is an entity to profit off of, reward the wealthy and let the rabble fight over scraps.

Just to be clear as a progressive, do you condone BLM shaking down businesses in Louisville? Is shaking down lawful businesses a progressive step, yes or no?

reply

Can you post an example of a moderate right story from the Atlantic?

reply

I don't remember any, however that was my opinion of the mag.

It seems most pundits call The Atlantic moderate-left.

reply

Not sure about right, but I would agree it has a history of centrism.

Either way, this administration has tried so hard to be non-PC that it makes wokeness look like normalcy.

reply

You hit the nail on the head. I always found it to be centered, but like you said: the administration of today makes the magazine look “ woke”. Lol
